News and Happenings

June 29, 2008 - Devon Horse Show
Symmetry Ranch Bred horses made us proud at Devon again this year!!

This is It, owned by Jill Johnson and Robert Reilly, won his PA-bred yearling class and was overall Reserve Champion PA-Bred horse.

Society Hill, owned by Britany Maack, was first in both the PA-bred Two-Year-Old Colt and Gelding class, and the Two-Year-Old TB Colt and Gelding class.

Moonstone was 4th in both PA-bred Yearling fillies and TB Yearling fillies.

Royal Engagement, owned by Beth Orem and Justin Rowe, was 5th in both the PA-bred Three-Year-Old class and the Three-Year-Old/Other-than-TB mare class. She's looking all grown up, and we can't wait to see her start showing under saddle.

We were very pleased to get reacquainted with two full-sibling colts that we bred, Puzzle and Portfolio. Both are Palladio x Forever Noted, and they looked lovely in their Young Hunter Under Saddle classes. Puzzle made us additionally proud by bringing a 6th place ribbon for his handler in the Amateur Handler class.

The real highlight of our day was that Puzzle, who is only 4 years old, was shown in the Young Hunter class by Kirstin Hogue -- his TEN YEAR OLD owner (see Puzzle's photo page!)

The 2007 show year went by too fast. A summary of our activities:

2007 USEF Results

April Fool's Gold once again was named Best Young Horse and the winner of the TB Yearling filly class. Bonfire Glo made the return to the show to finish Reserve Best Young Horse, and winner of his TB Yearling Colt class.

September 20, 2006 - International Hunter Futurity Finals

September 20, 2006 - Kentucky National Horse Show

September 4, 2006 - Tropical Storm Ernesto may have kept us away from the East Coast this weekend, but our horses, trainer and handler made us proud. Despite a "health and safety" decision to stay home Friday and miss the IHF classes, the rest of the weekend was great.

The Warrenton results earlier in the week were also pretty exciting. We are proud to announce that Minister General's son Da Vinci was Warrenton Horse Show Champion 3-Year-Old Hunter. And the stunning Imperial Crown, out of our mare Tax Day put in yet another flawless performance to win Grand Champion IHF East Coast and Champion 3-Year-Old. Congratulations to all their connections, including Imperial Crown's breeder, Janno Farm.

July 10, 2006 - Our thoughts are with the people and horses at New Bolton Center this week. Our friend lost her lovely filly this weekend after a long struggle at the NBC ICU. Additionally, news reports have Barbaro working hard to overcome some setback in his recovery. We wish comfort and support to all in the healing they each need.

July 9, 2006 - Pennsylvania H.B.F. Benefit Horse Show and Yearling Futurity: A huge congratulations and thanks to the people who work so hard to put on this great show every year! We know our kids wouldn't be able to get these great experiences if people weren't doing the hard work to make the shows happen.

Keystone Classic Horse Show:
- April Fool's Gold had yet another great day out. April was named Reserve Best Young Horse, Reserve Best PA-Bred Horse, and was the winner of both her PA-Bred Yearling Filly Class and TB Yearling Filly Class.

- This show marked the debut of our very tall homebred Royal Engagement. "Penny" was 2nd in the PA-Bred Yearling filly Class, and 2nd in the Non-TB Yearling Filly Class. A great day for her first show...everyone thought she was a 2-year-old!

- Argo's Quest is happy to be back under saddle, and was 2nd in the Young Working Hunter U/S Class, and 1st in the Young Conformation Hunter U/S Class. Just like old times for Argo!

June 11, 2006 - Grand Affair officially retired from competition today at the Upperville Colt and Horse Show. With her win in the non-thoroughbred broodmare class, "Diva" retired the 25-year-old POSH Challenge Trophy. This marked her 4th win of that trophy, and we are overwhelmed to be the permanent retirement home for this piece of equestrian history.

Our youngsters made us proud as well. Bonfire Glo won his TB Yearling Colt class, while April Fool's Gold won her TB Yearling Filly class and brought home a Reserve Championship for the Cismont Farm Challenge Trophy.

Our thanks (as always) to Sam Manno for handling our horses in the ring, and Jill Manno for getting them looking their best.

June 5, 2006 - We are incredibly proud to have had such an amazing collection of Symmetry Ranch bred horses showing at the 2006 Devon Horse Show, and we are particularly proud that 4 Blue Ribbons and a Tri-Color ribbon were awarded to foals by GP's Krugerrand. Our homebred winners include: The whole day was made special by being able to spend time with our friends and clients. We wish all our "kids" continued success and happiness in their careers.

No description of this show is complete without a huge congratulations to Sam Manno. Not only did Sam win Leading PA-Handler and Leading Handler overall, but he managed to do this after having his foot crushed in a class quite early in the morning. Vet wrap and an iron-will is all that got him through until the human doctors could tend to him the next day. Way to go Sam! We couldn't do what we do without "team Janno!!"

May 30 through June 4 - We will be at Devon, cheering on our horses. Look for us there!

May 28, 2006 - It looks like a quick outing before Devon turned out to be a grand idea.

At the Hollyhurst Horse Show, April Fool's Gold had a wonderful day. She was named Reserve Best Young Horse and Reserve Champion PA-Bred!!

May 21, 2006 - Today brings some lighter hearts and better news. We've just heard that Barbaro made it through his surgery and is bright and alert. We hope for more good news over the next weeks and months. We continue to be amazed by the talent of the team at New Bolton Center.

On to the weekend show results!
- Mileview, May 21:

We find it hard to decide which of our "golden boys" is our favorites, but were amused to discover that even the professional judges just can't agree!! Goldhaven was the winner of the TB Yearling colts class under Judge B, and was second Judge A. Bonfire Glo was the winner of the TB yearling Colts class under Judge A, and was third under Judge B. Not to be outdone by the boys, April Fool's Gold was the winner of her TB Yearling Filly class under judge B, and was second under Judge A.

This show marked the return to the Hunter Ring for Argo's Quest. Argo was second in large class of Young Working Hunters under both judges.

Symmetry Ranch homebred Zarrbuck was the winner of the PA-Bred Two Year Old colts class and Non-TB Two Year old colts under Judge A, and was second in both classes under Judge B. Zarrbuck was third under both judges in the Amateur Handler class.

Symmetry Ranch homebred For The Moment was third under Judge A in the TB Yearling colts class, and second under Judge B. Congratulations to owners Cheryl and Ray Francis.

May 20, 2006 - What sad news we've had the last couple days, sprinkled with a dash of light to ease the pain.

First, our heart goes out to Barbaro and his connections on his terrible Preakness injury. We are praying for him, and know that the experienced staff at New Bolton Center will do everything that can be done.

We watched the race while coming off our own tragedy this week. On Friday, our lovely mare Cupid's Joy passed away. Despite all possible efforts, we were unable to save her foal. We can take comfort that she has been so happy and healthy these last months, and that neither suffered in their passing.

A small reminder of why we keep doing this came this morning, with the news that Forever Noted foaled a handsome buckskin colt by GP's Krugerrand. The foaling was uncomplicated, and both mare and colt are healthy. Welcome news in this tough week.

May 17, 2006 - Blue Rock Horse Show

It's a darn good thing palominos look good in blue!! For the 2nd week in a row, April Fool's Gold was the winner of both her PA-Bred Yearling Filly Class and her TB Yearling Filly class. Meanwhile, Goldhaven was the winner of his TB Yearling Colt class and placed second in the PA-Bred Yearling colts class. We couldn't be more pleased with the progress our youngsters have made.

May 14, 2006 - What a perfect Mother's Day!! Gala Runaway foaled a beautiful colt this morning, around 5am. He appears to be black, and will most likely turn grey like his beautiful dam. Healthy, strong and correct, this is one stunning hunter pony!! We're looking forward to getting photos as soon as they have their first turnout.

May 11, 2006 - It must be getting close to Devon when the mid-week shows start!!

At St. Christopher's Horse Show on May 10, Bonfire Glo was named Champion PA-Bred Horse, and was the winner of both the PA-Bred Yearling Colts class, and the TB Yearling Colts class. Pleased to have her share of the limelight, April Fool's Gold was the winner of both her PA-Bred Yearling Filly Class, and TB Yearling Filly class. We are very proud that our very own GP's Krugerrand is the sire of these special yearlings.

This event marked the show-ring debut of Goldhaven. He was third in the PA-Bred Yearling Colts Class, and second in the TB Yearling colts class...not bad for his first time off the farm.

Symmetry Ranch Homebred Puzzle made his 2006 debut as well. He was third in the PA-Bred Two Year Old Colts class, and fifth in the Non-TB Two Year Old colt class. Congratulations to owners John and Shannon Muldoon!

May 07, 2006 - Mileview Horse Show: April Fool's Gold won her PA-Bred Yearling Filly class under both Judges! In addition she won her TB Yearling Filly class under judge B, and was second under Judge A. Bonfire Glo won his TB Yearling colt classes under both judges, and was second in his PA-Bred Yearling colt classes under both judges.

- Symmetry Ranch homebred Zarrbuck was Reserve Champion PA-Bred Horse and class winner of the PA-Bred Two Year Colt class, and winner Non-TB Two Year old colt class under judge B, he was second in his PA-Bred Two Year old class, and 5th in the Non TB 2 year old colt class under judge A. Finally, Zarrbuck was second under both judges in the Amateur Handler Class.

- Symmetry Ranch homebred Simply Red was second in the PA-Bred Two Year old colt class under both judges, and was second in the TB two year old colt class under judge A, and third in the TB Two Year old colt class under judge B. Congratulations to Why Wait Farm!

May 06, 2006 - Congratulations to Barbaro and his trainer Michael Matz on winning the 132nd running of the Kentucky Derby! The win was particularly exciting for us, since our stallion Final Markdown is by Barbaro's sire Dynaformer, the 2003 leading sire of Grade-1 stakes winners.

May 05, 2006 - Time to catch up on another busy week of events.

April 30, 2006 - We are excited to announce our newest arrival! All is Well gave birth to a lovely chestnut colt by GP's Krugerrand. It was a very difficult presentation (upside down), and we are grateful to Dr. Carlos Jimenez and Karin Jimenez for all their effort and skills which resulted in mare and foal coming through in fabulous condition.

Show results for the weekend:

April 24, 2006 - It must be spring when every weekend brings news!

April 17, 2006 - We found lots of treats in our Easter Basket this weekend!!

April 10, 2006 - Our boys must really be enjoying the beautiful spring weather! We couldn't be prouder of how well he handled all the new sights and sounds! See the video on the gallery page.

April 05, 2006 - We were excited to learn that Grand Affair's colt by Unfold was awarded Champion Regular Conformation Hunters at The Oaks "A" Show. Congratulations to her owner, Jo Cho and their "support crew".

April 04, 2006 - Brightest Gold has presented us with an adorable buckskin colt by Five Eighty Four. We think the mare must have been as excited as we were, as she managed to foal without ever lying down! A big thanks to our "catching" team on a remarkable first for all of us.

March 29, 2006 - We're pleased to announce that Irish Corker foaled a palomino colt by GP's Krugerrand. We'll have photos (and maybe even a foaling video!) available within a few days.

March 26, 2006 - Argo's Quest's foal, our colt Argyle Quest, had his debut at the "Our Farm" horse show on March 26th. We are pleased to announce that he won both his PA-Bred Yearling and TB Yearling Colt classes, and was pinned Champion PA-Bred Horse. GP's Krugerrand, Argo's Quest and now Argyle Quest - 3 generations of champions!!

March 05, 2006 - Early this morning, Skattered Gold foaled a healthy chestnut colt by Five Eighty Four. No snowstorms were involved but our vet did almost miss his flight out to the KWPN annual meeting. See our 2006 Foals Page for more information on our current foal crop.

February 26, 2006 - We've had some recent media coverage of our breeding program:

February 22, 2006 - Minister General's son "Wally" finished 3rd in the 3' Pre-Greens at Wellington, in a class of 29. Congratulations to his owner, Lyndsley Royster, and to his rider, Tommy Serio. What a great start to his season!

February 12, 2006 - Our first foal of the season hit the ground! Despite a Nor'easter that dumped more than a foot of snow overnight, our dam In By One gave birth at 5:30 AM to a beautiful and healthy Bay Filly, as yet unnamed. Her sire Five Eighty Four couldn't be more proud, and neither could we! See our 2006 Foals Page for more updates and photos.

December 10, 2005 - We just completed the update to our new Web site.

Watch this space for more current events!
